Planning a trip

We are looking to be relocating to the Charleston area next year from South West FL. We are going to make a visit this year to make sure we love it there. We are planning to come either in early march or early may. When is the best time to visit? We have two toddlers what sort of things are there to do that they will enjoy as well. Also we are looking for an economy hotel for this trip, right now we are looking at the Mount Pleasant Red Roof Inn anyone have any insights on that hotel?

Either time would be fine for a visit, but May will be warmer. Even though early March could be quite mild, you would probably find it chilly compared to Fort Myers.

Your toddlers would probably enjoy at carriage ride in the historic district and a visit to the SC Aquarium. Charleston also has an IMax theater.

Another option for accommodations would be to rent a cottage or condo at one of the beaches. you would have more space and would be able to prepare your own meals. Even though the weather gets nice for the beach in May, the rental rates are still much lower than they are in summer.
