Fairfield at Edisto Beach

After reading some of the postings Ihave several questions about the accomodations. I understand the beach chairs provided are uncomfortable plastic--do they come with umbreallas. Are there other chairs %26amp; umbrellas for rent? What unit is newest, quietest? Thanks for any input.

Fairfield at Edisto Beach

Beach umbrellas %26amp; lounge chairs are available for rent during the summer months. However, you have to pay for them at the Recreation Office (by the main pool) at the resort before you go to the beach (They give you a slip of paper to give to the cabana attendant at the beach). The cabana attendant (generally a teenager) is not allowed to handle money or rent the umbrellas himself. If you rent an umbrella, you will get 2 lounge chairs (usually with the plastic looping as the webbing for seating; however, there are some plastic charis too). The cabana attendant will put them up for you anywhere on the beach in the general area of the cabana building.

There are white plastic lounge chairs on the sun deck (no shade) at the cabana available free on a first come, first serve basis; we usually use those. They are cable locked to the deck, so you can%26#39;t move them. No one in my family has ever complained about them being uncomfortable though.

I am not really sure which of the units are the newest. I think that most of them were built during the 1980s %26amp; early 1990s. We own a 2 bedroom unit in the Driftwood II section. We do get some noise sometimes from the unit above us, depending on who is in the unit; it is usually most noticeable in the early AM (if they are early risers).

The resort complex itself is pretty quiet. To minimize the extraneous noise, I would probaly go with one of the Summerwind or Magnolia Walk units; they are duplexes. If you are in a unit that is by a lagoon, you are going to hear the bullfrogs singing at night no matter what.
