Planning a trip need help

My family is planning a trip to Charleston this summer. We want to stay on the Beach but be close to historic downtown. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Folly Beach or Isle of Palms. I am assuming you understand Charleston does not have a ';beach'; . Charleston is located on a harbor. Its a beautiful city, lots of history.

The closest beach to downtown is Folly Beach. They have a Holiday Inn. I recommend it as it is the only beach near Charleston that has a bohemian beach feel with local flavor and interesting restaurants. It allows alcohol in plasic containers and has a tiki bar, which the other beaches do not. Good place for vacation.

I would be one of those people if asked, ';And where are you going?'; (say after winning the Super Bowl), I would say ';Folly Beach.'; I think it is the perfect place if you are looking for a beach vacation. There are many beautiful condos and beach houses to chose from. We really like the Pavilion Watch condo that we rented last July. You would be only a15-minute drive from downtown Charleston (it%26#39;s unbelievably easy to get around the area). Try the web sites for Dunes Properties and Island Rentals. We%26#39;ve also used Fred Holland (but these houses were not as clean as we would have liked). If you read the posts on this forum, then you know there are many things to do and see in this beautiful city.
