We are planning to drive from the Myrtle Beach area to Charleston for a day to do some sightseeing. I need a little advice from the Charleston experts as to the best route, etc.
I know that we take Route 17 south but when we approach the Charleston area we need some help. Someone advised stopping at the Visitors Center to purchase tickets for the planation tours, etc. Where is this located and may we drive to it? We would like to combine a city tour and a planation tour, weather permitting. We don%26#39;t mind cool as we live in New England.
Can anyone advise as to which tour we should do the first week in February? Will there be any ';gardens'; to view? We did Boone Planation and the house tour on another visit so would like to see a different plantation. Also took the horse and buggy tour but think that may be weather permitting this time around.
Parking: where would be the best and most reasonable parking (probably spending the day) for us if we are going to be doing sightseeing tours? Shopping suggestions? Lunch we will just wing it, depending upon our tours.
Thanks so much for any advice.

I asked this question on the MB forum under , my family is doing the same thing. Driving to MB and then headed to Charleston for a few days. This was my reply: '; As for Charleston...a straight shot south on Rt 17. Give yourself at least 2 hours to get down there.';
