Best Plantations and Ghost Tours to Visit

My husband and I will be in town for a few days and want to visit a coulple plantations. They all look beautiful, but would like some recommendations. Looking into Middleton Place (dont think this is original though) and Calhoun Mansion, Drayton Hall.

We are also interested in a couple Ghost Tours, any recommendations.

Thanks!

Best Plantations and Ghost Tours to Visit

I love Drayton Hall and its park-like grounds. The mansion, the only Ashley River plantation home that was never destroyed by war or disaster, is original and unrestored. You can tour the home; but, since the house is empty except perhaps for a ghost, do not expect to see beautiful antiques.

Middleton Place is spectacular. The house is not original, but it is an excellent museum of period furnishings and plantation life. The house and grounds are definitely worth a visit. The gardens are beautiful. There is a fine restaurant, so you can plan to spend the day.

If you want to see inside some of the older Charleston town homes, check the suggestions and information at -

I would particulary recommend the Edmondston-Alston House.

Best Plantations and Ghost Tours to Visit

Magnolia Plantation is another great one to visit. It%26#39;s just down the road from Middleton. If you aren%26#39;t really interested in the houses, You can skip them and spend all your time on the grounds.

Thanks for the recommendations! I will take a look at the website provided. Yes, Middleton does look like we will have to visit even if its just the grounds. Drayton Hall would be interesting to see since its an original.

Still looking for ghost tours recommendations, thank you!!

Check with Bulldog Tours, their Ghosts and Graveyards tour and Dark Side (which includes one of the spookiest places in town [the old city jail]) are excellent.

I will check the website, thanks for advice!
