Spoleto Festival

I was under the impression that there was a large arts/crafts show sometime during the Spoleto Festival, but the information I received in the mail from the Festival only mentions performing arts such as drama, dance and music. Is there a large arts/crafts show also? if so, does anyone know the dates? Any responses would be appreciated. I never make plans without checking out Trip Advisor first.

Spoleto Festival

During Spoleto and Piccalo Spoleto there are many non-official events going on in the Charleston area that will not be listed in the events program. There have been some arts and crafts shows in the past in North Charleston and Summerville as well as some other venues in the area. Many of them advertise for a limited time before the event in the newspaper.

Some of the churches and banks will have artists works on display. You will find artists exhibiting works along the sidewalks and in some of the parks, too.

At this time, the Charleston Convention Center in North Charleston has a North Charleston Arts Festival scheduled 5/4-5/13 which is before Spoleto. Spoleto and Piccalo Spoleto are 5/25/07-6/10/07.

Of course there are arts (or crafts)! There are many parks dowtown that will have booths set up with paintings, photos, baskets, all kind of good things to buy. Dates are during the whole Spoleto time.

The event you describe is part of the Piccolo Spoleto festival which occurs at the same time as Spoleto USA but is managed by the City of Charleston rather than Spoleto USA proper. Piccolo is much more affordable. The arts and crafts are in Marion square and in a churchyard nearby-the name escapes me. If you google Piccolo Spoleto you should find their website.
