For friendly luxury and a fabulous ocean view, you might consider The Sanctuary Hotel on Kiawah Island. Unfortunately, you would want to rent a car for easy access to Charleston and all the great restaurants.

Charleston is not right on the ocean, but it is surrounded by water. You probably will want a bed and breakfast or a hotel in the historic district. The Mills House is a lovely hotel, right in the middle of everything. Charleston Place is wonderful. You really cannot go wrong in the historic district - depends on your budget and your requirements.

Thanks for ur reply. What about the French Quarter Inn? Good location? Nice? Will look up the ones that you mentioned. Thanks

Hi. French Quarter Inn has a good rep; but - since we always stay on Kiawah - I can%26#39;t speak from experience. Post a separate question about the Inn, and you will get lots of replies.

If you are ever coming to Charleston during ';beach weather';, give Kiawah a try. I will have lots of recommendations!

When is ';beach weather?'; Would LOVE to come then!!

Air and water temperatures are generally good for the beach from mid-April through mid-October. In 2005, we were swimming in the ocean until just before Thanksgiving.

Even in February you may luck into some very strong sun and some daytime highs around 70, but the ocean water will be very chilly and the wind off the water can be bitterly cold.

If you want to be downtown, the Andrew Pinckney Inn is great. It%26#39;s outside of the noisy zone, but within walking distance to the Market, King Street, the Gibbes Museum of Art, Waterfront Park, etc.
