Which of these is the better choice?? Or any other recommendations?? Interested in oceanfront, restaurants at resort, kid friendly, close to attractions. Looking for a family oriented resort for my husband and I and our will be 6mo daughter. This will be our first time traveling to MB, expected date of travel is early June. Also, how is the weather at this time? THANKS!!
Sea Island or Breakers??
Stayed many years at The Breakers which is close to attrractions like Broadway at the Beach, Family Kingdom amusement park, Coastal Federal Field, Costal Grand Mall (near the airport) where the Pelicans play. Weather will be great but it%26#39;s extremely busy. We stayed at the Breakers north boutique hotel, about six blocks north, two years ago and found it way quieter with more room at the pools for our kids. There%26#39;s a nice kiddie pool too. The rooms there are modern and we made good use of the kitchen; we found the Breakers main resort a little worn down last few years before that. never stayed at their Paradise building. Small restaurant at north tower and there%26#39;s one on-site at main resort and one right across the street.
Last year, we chose Sea Island. It is stunning, the rooms spacious, the pool facilities are fantastic. It%26#39;s not as close to Broadway at the Beach but it%26#39;s closer to Restaurant Row and some other attractions. It has a restaurant on-site but it%26#39;s a little expensive. We made good use of the huge kitchen for breakfast and lunch and then went out for dinner. It%26#39;s in a quiet residential area with no high-rises around it.
We would choose Sea Island over The Breakers any day.

Sea Island or Breakers??
I have stayed at the Breakers. Both the Resort building and the Paradise Towers. The Sea Island has newer accommodations, and is everything is newer.
If you choose Breakers go with Paradise Towers Building.
I have been looking at Sea Island and it is nice. Only problem it is going to cost you a little more than Breakers. Try Sea Island first and if they don%26#39;t have your dates available go with the Paradise Towers at the Breakers. You won%26#39;t be disappointed. The weather is good in June. We typically go in August but have been there in June and it isn%26#39;t as Humid or hot. I think last time we went in June it was about lower 80%26#39;s with not much humidity.
Great thanks! I would to stay at Sea Island but it looks like the price difference between the two is a little over $500 but I guess since its so newer I can understand why. If I am able to get a better deal we%26#39;ll definitely go with SI. If we do Breakers I will request the Paradise Towers.
The weather sounds perfect not too hot since we will be traveling with a little one. Should we pack jeans for night time?
How are the beaches? I heard Hilton Head beaches are much better (this is coming from someone who visited MB 10 yrs ago) I got kinda worried when I heard this as we are really forward to visiting MB.
Thanks!!!
In early June I would say yes to packing the jeans. At least 2 pair. I find that in the restaurants when we go to eat it is always a little cold and I can%26#39;t enjoy my meal if I am freezing. :-)
I am planning our annual MB trip, we go in August I may try to get Sea Island if not I loved the Paradise Towers. We had their 2 BR 2 FBA OF Superior Suite. It was nice. It had a full kitchen fully stocked on utensils and pots and pans; 2 BR the first BR had a window at the front of the room and had 2 Queen beds and a TV. The Master BR had 2 Queen beds or King depending on which room, with a nice large Bathroom (Jacuzzin/Whirlpool Tub) balcony access from room TV. LR with nice couch and chairs TV with VCR and Videos in the top drawer (Good kids movies) oh and one of those games I think a Playstation or Nintendo or something. Dining room with table and 6 chairs. Also the View with the floor to ceiling glass window was wonderful. We were on the 4th floor if I recall which was high enough to have direct view of beach.
Thanks for the info. I called Sea Island they wanted 1883.00 and Breakers was 1160 in the Paradise. The only downfall with Breakers was 2 Queen beds and no King. The king was available in the South Tower, but I prefer the newer building.
What about the beaches??
Thanks!!
The beaches in the area around Sea Island are, IMO, some of the best around. Nice and wide...great for walking, shell or shark teeth collecting, fishing, boarding or just sitting and watching the surf roll in! You have a nice residential area to the north and to south of this area we call the avenues or the golden mile...so beaches usually arent jam packed.
Its a tough choice...there are things I really like about both places. Breakers (Paradise Tower) has one of my fav beach bar and grilles located right next door (Bummz -- great live music and decent food!) and they are within walking distance to a number of other places to grab a bite, ice cream or coffee. The pool are for the kids is decent and they do have a few restaurants on site (Red Parrott and Papa%26#39;s across the street in the lower level of the parking garage). Sea Island like the above post says, has a restaurant on site -- pricey and really not the same Sea Island restaurant it once was...the pool area there is pretty awesome and everything is direct OF. You do have a number of places nearby (not really walking distance, but you could jump the trolley and head north in the 70+ Avenues area)that are some of my favorites! Collectors Cafe, City Bar, Liberty Tap Room and Grille (the best meatloaf around!), Villa Mare, China Dragon, Cheeseburger in Paradise (great live music!) and Fiesta Mexicana (excellent food and $2 margaritas!)
Long pants for the evening a yes for the evening...especially along the beach if the wind is up...but early June is a great time! Right during the time of our Sun Fun Festival!
:)
I have also stayed at both and i FAVOR sea Island. It was not more expensive for us ....actually Sea Island came in at about 300.00 cheaper and it was much better.Either would be fine but I would only stay in the Paradise Towers at Breakers ...the rest of the resort is no where as new and nice. Also with a little baby you may need to know that you have to cross the street for parking at the Breakers .Which will be even worse in June.My husband said he would have paid double not to have to keep crossing that street.
We have decided to stay at The Breakers. I would have loved to stay at the Sea Island, but after calling today for rates it was going to be over $800 dollars more for the week and that was overextending over budget. We really look forward to our vacation. Thanks for all the info and advice!!
