Myrtle Beach

Any use for young 20 somethings??heard its a lively enough place, would be planning on an extended stay.Would it be any use for a roadtrip??From Myrtle to somewhere??

Myrtle Beach

Depends of the time of year you are looking at visiting. Right now...not ,much happening, but as our summer season approaches, things come back to life and there is alot to do. We have a number of international students work here in the summer in the hotel/restaurant industry or as beach lifeguards. And the area clubs are pretty busy....especially the ones located at and around Broadway at the Beach (www.broadwayatthebeach.com)

As for a road trip from Myrtle Beach...Charleston, Wilmington or even Savannah or the Outer Banks...especially if you are looking at spending some time on the east coast. Charleston is one of my fav road trips..you can make it there in approx 2 hours...but I always prefer to spend at least an overnight there...alot to do and some great food and music!

Myrtle Beach

yes we would be heading in the summer, staying june, july, august??so its busy during these months??Is it popular with people 21/22 years old??any tips?

Is there anyway of getting a train/driving to South Florida??how long would it take?

Myrtle Beach has something for everyone. 21 and up, there are some good clubs, especially at Broadway at the Beach. As for ';train'; service, Southeastern US is not really a ';train'; mecca. I believe you might find an Amtrak somewhere in SC going to somewhere in FL, but thats iffy. Driving from Myrtle Beach to Orlando, FL (Disney World) approximately 9-10 hours, thats the middle of the state. It would be a good 12+ hours to get toward South FL. The Southeast coast NC/SC/GA/FL is a nice drive. You will go thru many small towns, all have some kind of charm to them. Charleston SC is a great town, as is Savannah, GA. July/August are very busy times here and you will experience alot of traffic, but thats any city. You have many options as to where to stay, I do recommend Myrtle Beach and not North Myrtle, or Cherry Grove, nor Surfside/Garden City. You mentioned ';lively'; trip and staying in Myrtle Beach proper give you more lively. Other areas are more family oriented, little quieter and more spread out.

Found this on Amtrak site. There is a train route nearby. Well......Maybe 60 miles from the beach. Train stops in Dillon.

As MagicKat noted...very popular with the mid twenties group...and a pretty diverse crowd it is here that time of year! American, Columbians, Scotts, Irish, Eastern Block, Mid East and Asian...a great melting pot in the summer months. Not sure what type of accomodations you are looking for...but long term, you might take a look at some of the seasonal rentals (monthlys) in the local classifieds (www.myrtlebeachonline.com) Of course if you want to make it a working vacation, there is deffinately not a shortage of jobs here in the summer. Burroughs and Chapin do hire a number of J1%26#39;s, as does the numberous lifeguard companies and restaurants. Check out www.burroughs-chapin.com or www.lacksbeachservice.com for more info if your interested. These companies also help with housing.

As for clubs...Broadway at the beach, Club Kryptonite, Red Rooster, Club Hush, Bummz (on the beach), St Clements for the local crowd as well as Liberty Tap Room and Grille....and even tho its a bit of a drive The Marsh Walk in Murrells Inlet (30 minutes south) a number of places to grab a cold one and walk the docks listening to live music at approx 8 different venues.

Nothing like the rain system there in Dublin. LOL! I wish! The Amtrak does make a stop in Florence (about an hours drive west of us)...I usually drive or if I can find a cheap flgiht fly down to Florida. Ft Lauderdale is just about a 12 hour trip, Jacksonville a bit over 6 hours...of course depending on your speed and traffic/road conditions. But like we have said, the drive does give you some great vistas of the east coast....not that you can see it all from I-95, so if you do drive, be adventorous and hit some of the back roads.....

Enjoy the trip!
