We are planning a honeymoon this June 17-24th. Several people have suggested MB. I have never been, she has been with her family. She doesnt remember it as a place for honeymooners- but several people have said that has changed slightly. So we are both open minded.
I am a very hyper person. I have never been to the beach- but cant imagine just being happy laying on the beach all day. I need to go do stuff. She on the other hand would love to stay in a ocean front room where she could just walk out on the beach. lol. I liked MB for the wide array of activities offered. We dont need a spa, or someting super fancy. Would like something clean, kinda nice, and in a good location for activities. (hope this hotel exists outside my mind)
Could you recomend some hotels? Been reading reviews. Would like to keep it to $200 a night, maybe cheaper. Or is there another beach local we should be considering?
hotel for honeymoon? or should we look elsewhere?
Well, I had my honeymoon in Ocean City, MD. I didn%26#39;t like it at all. Although it was in March and the coldest few days of the year. The hotel was nice but that%26#39;s about it. Since we couldn%26#39;t afford to go too far away from home we did what we had to do at the time. But that was years and years ago.
MB being a place for honeymooners all depends on what you like to do. I see you are from Kentucky so it%26#39;s not that far away. Your budget is about $200.00 per night and trying to get oceanfront rooms in June at that price might be a problem. And I particularly don%26#39;t like to go to a beach town and not stay on the beach.
MB has lots of nice restaurants. Casual and Romantic ones for a nice night out. Remember MB is still a hot family vacation spot. I suggest staying either in NMB, MB around the Avenues, the area around 21st Avenue and North or staying further south of MB like in Surfside, Garden City or Murrels Inlet. Don%26#39;t stay in the area where the Pavilion was or on SOUTH OCEAN BLVD.
Hotels:
-Marriott Grand Dunes (www.myrtlebeachmarriott.com) probably the perfect honeymoon hotel. It is beautiful there. The beach is quiet and the hotel is set up and reminds you of something tropical. We walked around there while vacationing in the summer and I loved it.
-Grande Shores (www.grandeshores.com)
-Breakers Paradise Towers (www.breakers.com) Make sure you ask for Paradise Towers
-Sea Island Inn (www.seaislandinn.com)
There are others but these are nice and in good locations.
Activities:
-Palace Theatre: www.palacetheatremyrtlebeach.com
-House of Blues
-Broadway at the Beach (www.broadwayatthebeach.com) Shopping, Dining, Nightlife
-Carolina Opry (www.carolinaopry.com)
-Dixie Stampede (www.dixiestampede) this is something you may or may not like. But it could be fun.
And other attractions as well but just to name a few. Look under attractions on this site.
-Restaurants: Too many to name. Look under Dining in the site and you will see some restaurants and the comments.
Romantic:
The Library is good
Sea Captain%26#39;s House (I didn%26#39;t like the service for us and we left but everyone who was there seemed to be having a good time) And it%26#39;s oceanfront and you get a clear view of the ocean
hotel for honeymoon? or should we look elsewhere?
For a nice romantic dinner drive about 18 miles south to Murrells Inlet.There%26#39;s about 7 or 8 restaurants in a row located on what is called the marsh walk.Walking this boardwalk at night with the torches lit and stopping for a drink at one of the outdoor bars with entertainment is more romantic than the Library IMO.
Good restaurant choices are Divine Fish House and Drunken Jacks. The Banana Mandarin Grouper dish I had at Divines was excellent.
Marriott Grande Dunes is a super location for a honeymoon. As for entertainment, we are older and do not like just sitting on beach either. Broadway at the Beach is a great place to go for nightlife. We see lots of honeymooners here. MB has lower end accomodations, middle of the road, high end. You will find somewhere that fits what you are looking for.
Ditto to all of the above....MsMaryland has a great list for some hotel options....you might even look at our local ';bed and breakfast'; Seredippity Inn...not oceanfront, but within walking distance and may be more in your price range --- but they will pamper you like you wont beleive!
I agree with TonyMK on heading on down to Murrells Inlet...great area to walk around, listen to some wonderful music (all types) and feast on some wonderful seafood......have to note my favs there --- Hot Fish Club (love the outdoor gazebo area), Olivers Lodge (one of the oldest places there!) and Lee%26#39;s Inlet Kitchen (another longtimer!)
Congrats...and enjoy!
:)
