Sea Mist?

Is The Sea Mist Resort 1200 S OB, In a bad location just reading Some of the post on here about NORTH OB and SOUTH OB and wondering if we made a mistake by making reservations for a week in June we have 4 small children Is this a safe area? THANKS

That area is safe. If you would ahve went north about another 10 blocks then I would be concerned.

I don%26#39;t think that you made a safe choice on where to stay due to the lack of cleanlyness.

Read the thread that is above yours ';Best Water Park'; you will get some info from other people regarding this resort. I assume when you say 4 small children you do not intend to let them walk up and down Ocean Blvd by themselves, many parents do and I suggest that is not a good idea. South Ocean Beach has areas that are not so stellar. If you drive around the Blvd you will see what areas are more run down than others. SeaMist is a much older resort been there for years, I have not stayed there I can not comment on the condition of the rooms. That is what reviews are for. If the majority of the reviews are not so good, you may want to reconsider. There are other hotels that have water parks and areas for children.

I agree with cbrguest...the area around Sea Mist isnt a ';bad'; area, and in the summer months its a very active area at all times of the day. We used to stay just a bit north of there when vacationing (South Seas) and never had a problem...granted that was a few years back, but during the day and early evening hours..everybody is out and about. Of course, as with anywhere you travel...I wouldnt head out alone along the Blvd (anywhere along OB for that matter) by myself or let the kids late in the evening.

I would tell you to be aware that the resort is an older place and is under going some much needed and pretty extreme renovations...so I am sure that their rates will reflect that...I%26#39;m just hoping that they are being honest and upfront with folks planning for vacation when they are making reservations!

MB Con is so PC, where I am not. She gives great reviews and anything she recommends or not recommends is usually on the mark. I hope you have read the other Water Park thread, as there are more comments about the resort there. I will tell you MY opinion, which is never in short supply, SeaMist reminds me of a very old MOTEL 6, at best.

I agree...find another place...not because of location. You can find a nicer, more modern resort in MB.
